A giant bell is set up to mark New Year's celebrations in Xi'an, western China's Shaanxi province. China traditionally places more emphasis on the Lunar New Year that falls on Feb. 18 in 2007, but across China, residents also sound the bell at the stroke of midnight to mark the arrival of a new calendar year.
